Svojo identiteto je iskal v filmu, poeziji, plesu, fotografiji in kiparstvu, a so ga vsa iskanja na koncu pripeljala nazaj h koreninam.
Huberto Široka was born in Zagreb. He finished a few years of primary school in Paris and a few in Bled, but his story really started to unfold in the 80s in Ljubljana. He was searching for himself in film, poetry, dance, photography and sculpture, but in the end the roads led him back to his roots. His family had been already making jewellery for three generations. Široka says: »My freedom and my truth, which is was trying to escape from, was actually hiding at home! « He set off to learn and understand the art of jewellery more outside his parents' workshop - he was training with various masters for many years, he was discovering the world of endangered craft and was broadening his horizons. He graduated as a jeweller. With a lot of new knowledge and experience he decided to open his own workshop in Bled, where you can feel the interaction of different worlds of making jewellery, silver-smithing, minting and dreams. In his work Huberto Široka constantly maintains the attention to the world, new ways, methods and tricks in wish for progress and perfection. The interlacement of extraordinary knowledge of silver-smithing and creative potential based on different eras of mankind help him to regain the jewellery its basic purpose. He perceives numerous acknowledgements such as awards and exhibitions at home and abroad from two different perspectives– the confirmation of his work and the inspiration for new discoveries on jewellery. His designs along with modern touch give the jewellery its primary role. His jewellery tells the user and the auditor that it is not about the shape, but about the mean, not even about the designer but about the narrator. »I tell about my feelings. I transform from the designer to the narrator. Jewellery used to protect a person from himself and the world, it was a mean, not a form. «
